2012 International Year of Cooperatives

The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution declaring 2012 the UN International Year of Co-operatives on December 18, 2009.

The UN resolution entitled "Co-operatives in Social Development" recognises the diversity of the co-operative movement around the world and urges governments to take measures aimed at creating a supportive environment for the development of co-operatives.

The Give Where You Live Campaign helps nonprofits working in our community to make ends meet. Through the Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation, each co-op is linked with many other co-ops in building their local Cooperative Community Fund. Each one increases its potential by uniting local actions, andreduces its costs by sharing resources nationally.

NASCO is the voice for a federation of campus-based housing and retail co-ops in the US and Canada. Members benefit from co-op training, education, development and networking resources.


National Cooperative Business Association

NCBA's mission is to develop, advance and protect cooperative enterprise; NCBA provides services and information for and about all types of cooperatives.


Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation

Twin Pines provides information about co-ops, educates co-op members, strengthens co-op organizations, develops cooperative models, and unifies the cooperative movement. Twin Pines is responsible for the Co-op Resource Center, Co-op Camp Sierra, Twin Pines Cooperative Housing Institute, and Eco-op Action.

CGIN - Cooperative Grocers' Information Network

CGIN provides web-based services to co-ops. Use of the CGIN listserve is available to the general public, but most resources are accessed only by member co-ops. CGIN provides managers with extensive, in-depth documents from other members and mutually strengthens participating co-ops.

CDF is a charitable foundation that raises funds to provide community developers with the hardest money to get- the first dollar in.
